It is reported that the Ministry of Trade of Türkiye has imposed additional tariffs on internal combustion engines and hybrid passenger vehicles imported from China through the presidential decree. The announcement said that 40% of the import amount of Chinese original vehicles or the minimum import tariff of 7000 US dollars/vehicle will be imposed from June 8, aiming to increase the share of domestic production in total automobile sales and promote domestic investment. And it was added that the additional tariffs imposed on certain imported goods will be continuously revised based on the development of the trade market and industry demand.
At the same time, on October 31, 2023, the Ministry began to carry out anti-dumping investigations on imported hot rolled coils from China, India, Japan and Russia A1008 Grade 30(205) steel . At present, the investigation is still in progress, and it is expected that the investigation results A1008 Grade 30(205) steel will be announced before the end of 2024.
The data shows that although the overall import volume decreased from January to April 2024, the import volume of steel from some South Asian countries with dumping and subsidies increased by 37% year-on-year, reaching 2.8 million tons.
