Although Türkiye's crude steel production in January this year dropped 1.9% year-on-year to 3.2 million tons, this achievement still made Türkiye rank seventh in the global crude steel production countries, and even surpassed Germany to become the largest steel producer in Europe. At the same time, the market demand for finished steel in Türkiye is also rising steadily. In January, the consumption of finished steel increased by 2.6% year on year, reaching 3.58 million tons.
The import and export of steel in Türkiye A387 Grade 21L steel increased significantly. In January 2025, Türkiye's steel export volume increased by 23.1% to 1.12 million tons, and the export volume also increased by 14.7% year on year to $763.45 million. Segmenting export product categories, the export volume of sheet metal was 374300 tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.6%; The export volume of long timber was 686300 tons, a year-on-year increase of 25.3%; The export volume of semi-finished products is 61000 tons.
In January 2025, Türkiye's steel import volume increased by 24.9% year-on-year to 1.73 million tons, and the import volume increased by 11.3% year-on-year to 1.19 billion US dollars. Among them, the import volume of sheet metal was 9000700 tons, a year-on-year increase of 22.4%; The import volume of long timber was 98400 tons, a slight decrease of 0.4% year-on-year; The import volume of semi-finished A387 Grade 21L steel products increased significantly, with a year-on-year growth of 32.9%, reaching 729800 tons.
