Türkiye’s total export of deformed steel bars increased by 12% in the first half of the year, and its export to Israel fell sharply

According to the latest monthly data of Türkiye Institute of Statistics (TUIK), the total export SCr435M steel volume of rebar in Türkiye increased by 12% year-on-year in the first half of 2024, reaching 1.7 million tons.

However, because Türkiye's Ministry of Trade violated international law because of Israel's attack on Gaza, it restricted the export of 54 product categories to Israel on April 9, and completely stopped all trade with Israel on May 2, Türkiye's rebar export to Israel in the first half of 2024 fell 74% year on year.

In the first half of 2023, Türkiye will export 304000 tons of deformed steel bars to Israel SCr435M steel, while in the first half of 2024, due to the export ban, the number will drop to 78200 tons.

At the same time, Yemen has become Türkiye's largest rebar export market, with the export volume reaching 284800 tons in the first half of 2024. Romania followed closely behind, with an export volume of 135000 tons, a year-on-year increase of about ten times. Other major export markets include Albania SCr435M steel (98000 tons), Ethiopia (73700 tons), Northern Cyprus (72500 tons), Panama (66500 tons), the United States (60000 tons), and Peru (55000 tons).
