Tata Steel, India’s second-largest steel manufacturer, debugs 2nd blast furnace

On September 20th, Tata Steel SA345 steel, India's second-largest steel manufacturer, announced the commissioning of blast furnace No. 2 at the Kalingnagar steel plant in the industrial zone of Odisha, increasing its steelmaking capacity from 3 million tons to 8 million tons per year. the total investment for the Kalinganagar Phase II expansion project is 270 billion rupees. After completion, the project is expected to undergo a third phase of development in the factory area, increasing production capacity from 8 million tons per year to 13 million tons per year.

Several large steel SA345 steel companies in India are currently implementing capacity expansion plans to meet the growing demand for steel. According to a report released by ICRA, one of India's most reputable credit rating agencies, based on the sustained growth of domestic demand and continued investment in infrastructure projects, it is expected that India's steel consumption will increase by 9-10% in fiscal year 2025, with new SA345 steel production capacity reaching a historic high of 15.6 million tons per year.
