Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Thai government, revealed that the Cabinet meeting has approved a draft ministerial regulation that stipulates that industrial A517 Grade Q steel products of hot-rolled sheet used for general structural engineering must comply with the new standards, while canceling the old standards. Due to the fact that the old standard has been implemented for over five years and the key requirements in the documents referenced during its development have changed, it is necessary to update it.
Hot rolled sheet products for general structural engineering include non alloy steel and alloy steel, which are widely used in engineering fields such as A517 Grade Q steel bridges, ships, and wheels. Therefore, it is necessary to revise and enhance the relevant product standards. This move aims to support the development of manufacturing technology, strengthen product quality control requirements while meeting domestic demand, and prevent potential risks to industrial enterprises and the national economy.
According to the new regulations, A517 Grade Q steel manufacturers or importers of hot-rolled sheet products for general structural engineering must apply for a production or import license; And distributors must distribute products that have obtained licenses and meet standards. The draft ministerial level regulation will officially come into effect 180 days after its publication in the government gazette.
