The export volume of deformed steel bars in Türkiye from January to September fell by 43% year on year

According to the data of Türkiye Statistics Bureau (TUIK), from January to September this year, the export volume of deformed steel bars of Türkiye steel mills fell 43% year-on-year to 2.4 million tons. Over the same period, the export revenue of deformed HX420LAD+Z80 steel steel bars in Türkiye fell 51% year on year to US $1.74 billion. Among them, the largest decline in exports to the United States was from 33.5 tons in January September 2022 to 87000 tons.

Israel is Türkiye's largest export destination of rebar, with the HX420LAD+Z120 steel export volume falling 25% year-on-year to 600000 tons. On October 10th, the Ministry of Transport upgraded the safety level of goods arriving in Israel to Level 3, which is the highest level of maritime safety.

TUIK data shows that in the past nine months, shipments to Yemen, another traditional top market, have increased by 2% to 560000 tons.

Other major rebar export markets of Türkiye include Ethiopia (214000 tons), Panama (96000 tons), Northern Cyprus (95000 tons), Senegal (89000 tons) and Jamaica (85000 tons).

In recent months, the Gulf countries have become competitors of Türkiye's steel exports with competitive pricing. Türkiye's steel mills are still facing the pressure of sluggish demand, high energy costs and fierce competition in the global market.

The export price of Türkiye's deformed HX420LAD+Z120 steel steel bars remained stable against the background of weak demand and high quotation of Türkiye's deformed steel bar producers.
