The price of imported scrap steel in Türkiye deepwater rises, and the long steel market is still weak in both supply and demand

Share:

It is reported that the import price of Türkiye's deep-sea scrap steel rose with the latest shipment transaction in June. The latest heard scrap steel transaction was reached at a price of $375 per ton of CFR, a slight increase compared to the previously learned transaction price of $373 per ton of CFR. This week, the finished long material market remains very calm, and steel mills are still working hard to find SPHT1 steel buyers of threaded steel in domestic and export markets.

We learned that Türkiye's steel mills are more inclined to import scrap resources originating in Germany than those of the same specification with similar prices, because their quality is better. Due to the high quality of materials in European SPHT1 steel resources, prices are showing an upward trend. However, the overall demand in Türkiye is still limited due to the weak sales of finished products. On the whole, the upward space of scrap prices is limited.

In addition, due to the slow down of Türkiye's long steel market, a steel mill in Marmara will stop the production of rebar rolling SPHT1 steel mills from the end of this week, and enter a week-long maintenance mode.
