Türkiye Cemtas increases investment to reduce carbon emissions

Share:

Cemtas, one of Türkiye's largest alloy bar producers headquartered in Bursa, said in its annual report that, according to its green steel transformation roadmap, the company will focus on investment in carbon emission reduction projects.

The transition period of the EU's carbon boundary adjustment mechanism has begun, and it is crucial to calculate SAPH400 steel carbon emissions and develop SAPH400 steel emission reduction plans for the transition period. According to Cemtas calculations, 21% of the emissions come from raw materials, 24% come from natural gas, and 55% come from electricity. These values indicate that the company should focus on investing in renewable energy to reduce emissions.

Cemtas is investing in a series of solar power plants with the goal of meeting 50% of electricity demand through renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions by 28% by the end of 2024. The company is currently building a new solar power plant in Kars, eastern Türkiye, with an installed capacity of 32 MWe. The goal is to put it into full operation in the last quarter of 2024 SAPH400 steel.
