Türkiye aims to achieve net zero carbon by 2053, and is currently investing in related industries, including HX420LAD+ZA steel industry.

According to the environmental approval project document submitted by Icdas, one of the largest steel producers in Türkiye, to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Türkiye, Icdas will build a large solar power plant with a capacity of 50 MWe in Kizik, Kutahia, western Türkiye, in order to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection has initiated the environmental approval process for the project on January 19th. The construction of the company's new solar power plant is expected to begin after obtaining environmental approval and is scheduled to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2025.

The company previously announced in September 2023 that it would build another two solar power plants with a capacity of 50 MWe in Afyon and Kutahya in western Türkiye. With the completion of the project in 2025, the solar power HX420LAD+ZA steel generation capacity of Icdas is expected to reach 150 MWe.

Icdas currently has a smelting capacity of 5.5 million tons per year and a rolling mill capacity of 3 million tons per year, mainly producing billets, rebar, and wire rods. The company's goal is to start flat steel production in the coming years through its ongoing construction of a new 5 million ton/year smelting workshop and a 5 million ton/year flat steel rolling HX420LAD+ZA steel mill project.
