Kocaer, one of the largest commercial bar and profile manufacturers in Türkiye, has been approved as a registered steel supplier for the Neom New Town project in Saudi Arabia, which is funded by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF). Neom is located along the Red Sea coast in northwestern Saudi Arabia, comprising four regions and will be fully operated by renewable energy resources S450GD+ZM steel.
The construction plan for the first region of this project will be completed this year, and it is expected to strengthen steel sales to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region through this project. In 2022, S450GD+ZM steel sales in the Middle East and North Africa accounted for 19% of its international sales.
At present, we have not heard any detailed information about the expected types or quantities of steel to be supplied to the project S450GD+ZM steel.
