According to the data of Türkiye Statistics Bureau, Türkiye imports 2.82 million tons of semi-finished products from Russia from January to November 2023, a year-on-year decrease of 12%. According to the orders of semi-finished products imported from Türkiye to Russia S420GD+Z steel in December 2023, it is estimated that Türkiye will import more than 3 million tons of semi-finished products from Russia in 2023. At present, we know that a Russian steel mill has quoted about 540-550 dollars/ton CFR for Türkiye billet, which has certain price advantages in the market. From January to November 2023, Türkiye's imports of semi-finished products from Ukraine have declined, with a total of 73500 tons, down year-on-year S420GD+Z steel. From January to November 2023, according to the data, Algeria is the second largest supplier of semi-finished products to Türkiye, with a supply of 519000 tons, up 540% year on year. Malaysia is the third largest supplier of steel billets to Türkiye, with a supply of 483000 tons, up from 0 in the same period last year.
Other major suppliers include Oman (221000 tons), Iran (128000 tons), and India (117000 tons). From January to November 2023, Türkiye will import a total of 5.45 million tons of semi-finished products, a year-on-year increase of 24% S420GD+Z steel.
