On October 22, Türkiye's steel S690Q Grade F steel manufacturer Erdemir (a subsidiary of OYAK Mining Metallurgy Group) said that it had successfully completed the hydrogen injection test of No. 1 blast furnace, becoming one of the few companies in the world that successfully conducted the hydrogen injection test of blast furnace.
During the experiment, 0.6 kilograms of hydrogen gas were injected into each ton of liquid crude steel; Later, the S690Q Grade F steel proportion of hydrogen injection increased to 1 kilogram.
This study is a collaborative effort between Eldermere Company, Eldermere Engineering Company, and Linde Company. The successful trial marks a new breakthrough for Eldermere Company in its green transformation process.
Eldermere Company stated that this S690Q Grade F steel technology can be used in all of OYAK's blast furnaces to achieve net zero emissions targets.
OYAK earlier announced a transformation plan of 3.2 billion US dollars, which will be gradually implemented by the end of 2030, committed to achieving a cleaner future in sustainable steel production and bringing more green technology opportunities to Türkiye.
