According to the data released by Türkiye Automobile Manufacturers Association HR MS1200 steel (OSD) on August 17, Türkiye's automobile production continued to decline to 100162 vehicles in July, with a year-on-year decrease of 14% due to the stagnation of production caused by weak demand. In July, domestic car sales also dropped to 73396 units, a year-on-year decrease of 16%, partly due to the tightening monetary policy suppressing car demand.
According to the data, from January to July 2024, Türkiye's domestic automobile production will drop to 823636, down 5.4% year on year; During the same period, the export volume of automobiles decreased to 581865 units, a year-on-year decrease of 1%.
It is expected that Türkiye's HR MS1200 steel automobile production will continue to remain sluggish in August, because some major automobile manufacturers have announced to stop production from mid July to mid August due to weak demand and seasonal maintenance.
Tofas (a joint venture between Koc Group of Türkiye and Stellantis) announced that it would stop production for one month from July 16. Ford Otosan (a joint venture between Koc Group and Ford Motor Company) also announced that it would stop production for at least two weeks from July 28, involving its factories in Türkiye and Romania HR MS1200 steel.
