According to the latest statistics of Türkiye P690QH steel Statistics Bureau, Türkiye's pig iron import volume from January to November 2024 is 1.23 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3%.
In terms of pig iron import source, Russia is still Türkiye's largest supplier. Although Türkiye's pig iron import from Russia P690QH steel decreased by 5% year-on-year, it still reached 813000 tons, accounting for a large share of Türkiye's pig iron import. Ukraine followed closely, with an import volume of 102500 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 6%.
Other major suppliers include Kazakhstan (186000 tons), South Africa (48600 tons), India (35200 tons), and Brazil (26300 tons).
In order to reduce pig iron imports, Türkiye has vigorously promoted domestic pig iron production in recent years. Therefore, although the import of pig iron in Türkiye declined, the output of crude steel increased. According to the data of Türkiye Steel Producers' Association, Türkiye's crude steel output from January to November 2024 has reached 33.9 million tons, an increase of 11.2% year on year.
On the whole, Türkiye's P690QH steel steel industry is gradually strengthening its independent production capacity under the dual impact of import pressure and the increase of domestic production, while maintaining a diversified supply source of external dependence.
