According to the monthly data of Türkiye Statistics Bureau (TUIK), due to the low demand for steel in some major export markets, the rebar export volume of Türkiye's steel mills fell by 12% to 288000 tons in January 2024, and the total export volume of steel was also significantly lower than the 521000 tons in January 2022.

Türkiye Steel Producers Association (TCUD) said that the situation in the Red Sea region limited Türkiye's SPFH540Y steel mills' exports of long materials in January. It is reported that during the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the shipment volume of Israel, one of the largest rebar export markets in Türkiye, continued to remain at a low level. Türkiye's export volume to Israel in January decreased to 20500 tons from 69500 tons in the same period last year. In January 2022, Türkiye's export of rebar to Israel reached 151500 tons.

Although the SPFH540Y steel export volume dropped by 13% to 75000 tons year on year, Yemen was still Türkiye's largest rebar export destination in January. The United States was the second largest rebar export market of Türkiye in January, with an export volume of 33000 tons, the same as that of the same period last year. The total export volume of rebar to Albania has tripled year-on-year to 21500 tons SPFH540Y steel.

Other rebar export markets in Türkiye in January include Northern Cyprus (11500 tons), Senegal (9500 tons), Lebanon (6000 tons) and Peru (5700 tons).
