According to the data of Türkiye Statistics Bureau (TUIK), from January to June 2024, Türkiye's steel enterprises imported 9.95 million tons of scrap steel, an increase of 3.6% compared with the same period in 2023.
In June, Türkiye imported 1.32 million tons of scrap steel SK65M steel, an increase of 8.3% over June 2023, and a decrease of 26.3% month on month. The import value was 546.76 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 5.6% and a month on month decrease of 26.7%.
In June, Türkiye's main scrap suppliers were the United States (35289 tons, a year-on-year increase of 43.5%), the Netherlands SK65M steel (8761 tons, a year-on-year increase of 18.5%) and the United Kingdom (12515 tons, a year-on-year increase of 435.7%).
From January to June, the United States delivered 2.12 million tons of scrap steel to Türkiye (up 6.6% year on year), 1.31 million tons to the Netherlands (up 20.5% year on year), and 1.11 million tons to the United Kingdom SK65M steel (up 50.8% year on year).
