According to the statement issued by Türkiye HCT980C+Z Steel Manufacturers Association TCUD, Türkiye's crude steel output in September this year increased by 8.4% year-on-year to 2.89 million tons, ranking eighth in the global crude steel output. From January to September this year, Türkiye's crude steel output was 24.5 million tons, down 10.1% year on year.
The consumption of finished HCT980C+Z steel products in Erqi increased by 30.3% in September, reaching 2.8 million tons. The year-on-year increase from January to September was 18.5%, reaching 28.9 million tons. Türkiye's steel exports fell 23.3% in September and 39.7% year-on-year from January to September. Türkiye's steel import volume increased by 10.9% year-on-year in September and 53.4% year-on-year from January to September. From January to September, the proportion of steel exports and imports in Türkiye fell to 52.11% from 93.8% in the same period last year.
According to the association's data, from January to September, the country's wire rod imports increased by 115.3% year-on-year. Among them, the growth rate of wire rod imports from Egypt, Russia, Malaysia, South Korea, and China is particularly significant. While exports continued to decline, the increase in imports had a negative impact on Türkiye's HCT980C+Z steel industry. TCUD said that government support for imports and dumping imports will lead to a sharp decline in the ratio of steel imports and exports and capacity utilization. To avoid this phenomenon, it is necessary to review the processing system with supplied materials and focus on products without production capacity in Türkiye.
