According to the statement issued by Türkiye Steel S420M Grade E steel Producers Association (TCUD), Türkiye's crude steel output in August this year increased by 13.9% year on year, reaching 3.14 million tons. From January to August this year, Türkiye's crude steel output was 24.8 million tons, with a year-on-year growth of 14.8%, ranking the second in the world.
In August this year, the consumption of finished steel products in Türkiye increased by 7.8% year-on-year to 3.08 million tons, but the consumption of finished steel products in the first eight months of 2024 decreased by 4.7% year-on-year to 24.9 million tons.
In August, Türkiye's steel export S420M Grade E steel volume increased by 11.8% year-on-year to 1.16 million tons, and its export value increased by 9.3% year-on-year to 844.7 million dollars. From January to August this year, Türkiye's steel exports increased by 39.8% year-on-year to 8.9 million tons, and its export value increased by 22.8% year-on-year to 6.53 billion US dollars. In the first eight months of this year, Türkiye exported 87759 tons of plate and 117143 tons of long timber.
In August, Türkiye's steel import volume fell 0.7% year-on-year to 1.32 million tons, and its import value fell 9.2% year-on-year to 1.03 billion US dollars. In the first eight months of this year, Türkiye's steel import volume decreased by 13.3% year-on-year to 10.72 million tons, and its import value decreased by 19.7% to 8.5 billion US dollars. From January to August, Türkiye imported 2.44 million tons of plates and 1.86 million tons of long materials.
From January to August 2024, the ratio of steel exports and imports in Türkiye S420M Grade E steel will rise to 75.50% from 49.98% in the same period last year.
