On February 13, 2025, Emsteel, A387 Grade 22L steel the largest building materials company in the United Arab Emirates, stated in its 2024 financial report that it will continue to focus on the production of low-carbon steel. Saeed Ghumran Al Remethi, CEO of Emsteel, stated that the company will continue to promote innovation and sustainable development, and advance the application of low-carbon solutions. The green hydrogen pilot project, a collaboration between Emsteel and Masdar, a renewable energy company based in Abu Dhabi A387 Grade 22L steel, was launched in October 2023 with the aim of reducing carbon emissions in steel production.
In addition, the UAE is currently undertaking multiple large-scale infrastructure projects with a total value of 772 billion US dollars, which are expected to bring sustained steel demand. The company pointed out that 52% of projects are still in the planning, design, or bidding stage.
As the world's first steel producer to achieve carbon dioxide capture, Emsteel's efforts in environmental protection have been internationally recognized. In 2023, Emirates Steel became the first manufacturing company in the Middle East and one of the first in the world to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. Emsteel has also signed memorandums of understanding with AD Ports Group, JFE Steel, and Itochu Corporation to jointly promote the production of low-carbon emission raw materials and support the UAE's "2050 Net Zero" strategy.
Despite the impact of global steel A387 Grade 22L steel price fluctuations, Emsteel's revenue decreased by 6% year-on-year in 2024. However, the company's investment in low-carbon steel production and green hydrogen projects is expected to provide strong support for its future growth and promote the sustainable development of the UAE steel industry.
