UK initiates anti-dumping investigation on tinplate related to China

On September 25, 2024, the website of the UK S390M Grade L steel Trade Remedy Agency published an anti-dumping investigation notice with the code AD0062, stating that Tata Steel UK Limited has submitted an anti-dumping review of tin plated or chrome plated products related to China to the UK Trade Remedy Agency (TRA).

The goods under investigation include: flat rolled products S390M Grade L steel of iron or non alloy steel, coated or plated with tin, whether or not coated with plastic material or varnish (tinplate) and flat rolled products, or iron or non alloy steel coated with chromium oxide or chromium and chromium oxide (also known as electrolytic chromium plated steel or "ECCS")

According to data from Steel Union, China S390M Grade L steel exported 15200 tons of tinplate (strip) to the UK in 2023, with a cumulative export of 19000 tons in the first eight months of this year, an increase of 73% year-on-year.
