Recently, American SG295 Grade C steel enterprises such as American Steel Power Corporation, Newco Steel Corporation, American Steel Corporation, Wellington Nippon Steel Corporation, etc. urged the U.S. Department of Commerce and the International Trade Commission (ITC) of the European Commission to conduct anti-dumping review on corrosion-resistant flat materials (CORE) originating in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands, South Africa, Taiwan, China, Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Vietnam SG295 Grade C steel, and conduct countervailing review on corrosion-resistant flat materials (CORE) originating in Brazil, Canada, Mexico and Vietnam.
It is reported that the demand for these products in the US market exceeds 20 million tons per year. Between the first half of 2023 and 2024, the import of CORE increased significantly from less than 1.25 million tons to nearly 2 million tons, which has a significant negative impact on the production and prices of the domestic steel industry in the United States. Therefore, in order to protect their domestic SG295 Grade C steel market, some steel companies in the United States have proposed conducting anti-dumping and anti subsidy investigations on galvanized products from certain countries and regions.
