According to data from Ukrmetallurgprom, from January to May 2024, the total export volume of Ukrainian sheet metal was 677000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 127.9%, the total export volume of semi-finished materials was 786000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 66,2%, and the export volume of section steel was 217000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 10.7%.
Although the export volume of sheet metal has increased, local steel demand in Ukraine has not yet recovered. From January to May 2024, the local JSC440W steel steel consumption in Ukraine was 1.36 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.6%, of which 472000 tons were imported.
From January to May 2024, the main export destinations for Ukrainian slabs were Europe (78.8%) and South America (5.7%).
In terms of imports, from January to May 2024, Ukraine JSC440W steel imported 388100 tons of sheet metal, a year-on-year increase of 22%, 8500 tons of semi-finished products, a year-on-year increase of 97.6%, and 76300 tons of imported steel, a year-on-year increase of 4.5%.
