Ukraine’s January board exports increase by over 28% month on month

In January 2025, the export volume of SA299 Grade A steel sheet products from Ukrainian steel companies increased by 15.7% compared to the same period in 2024, reaching 155500 tons, a month on month increase of 28.8%. The export volume in January this year was the highest since September last year, when the export volume of this product was 178820 tons. The shipment volume of hot-rolled flat steel (HS 7208) was the largest, reaching 129820 tons, a year-on-year increase of 17.5% and a month on month increase of 31%. Poland and Bulgaria are the main consumer countries, accounting for 43440 tons and 32140 tons respectively. The company also exported 19800 tons of flat cold-rolled products (HS code 7209), a year-on-year increase of 6.9% and a month on month increase of 22.5%. Poland SA299 Grade A steel and Italy became the main shipping destinations, with shipments of 4.94 thousand tons and 4.86 thousand tons respectively. The export volume of coated flat products reached 5800 tons. This number has increased by 12% compared to January 2024 and 6.8% compared to the previous month. The Polish market received 3830 tons of this product, while Romania received 1820 tons. In January, the export of tablet products reached 81.09 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 6.1% and a month on month increase of 17.2%.

In 2024, Ukraine's flat product exports increased by 36.1% compared to 2023, reaching 1.63 million tons. Among them, hot-rolled flat products accounted for over 80% of the export volume, reaching 1.363 million tons (a year-on-year increase of 44.7%). Cold rolled SA299 Grade A steel flat products accounted for another 12%, or 207100 tons (a year-on-year increase of 0.7%).
