According to the Ukrainian HR3 steel Metallurgical Industry Association, from January to July 2024, the consumption of steel products (including rolled products and semi-finished products) in Ukraine increased by 1.7% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 2.03 million tons.
From January to July 2024, Ukraine imported 711600 tons of steel products, an increase of 5.6% compared to January to July 2023. Imported steel accounts for 35% of Ukraine's domestic steel consumption market, an increase of 5.58 percentage points year-on-year. In imported steel, the proportion of flat rolled products is 79.38%, much higher than the 19.04% of steel products.
From January to July 2024, Ukrainian steel HR3 steel companies produced 3.73 million tons of rolled steel, an increase of 28.4% compared to the same period in 2023. The export of steel products reached 2.41 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 61.4%. The supply of rolled products and semi-finished products to the domestic market in Ukraine reached 1.32 million tons, a year-on-year HR3 steel decrease of 6.4%.
