Recently, the Central Political Bureau of Vietnam S460N steel approved the investment policy for the North South high-speed railway project at the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly. According to Mysteel, the project will adopt a dual track mode for the north-south high-speed railway, with a total length of 1541 kilometers, starting from Yuhui Station (Hanoi), passing through 20 provinces and cities, and ending at Hoa Thien Station (Ho Chi Minh City).

The preliminary stage plan of the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport is from 2025 to 2026, to select international consulting consultants through S460N steel bidding, conduct surveys, and prepare a pre feasibility study report. By the end of 2027, the site cleaning, bidding and selection of contractors, and construction of component projects for the Hanoi Rong City and Nha Trang Ho Chi Minh City sections will be completed. Afterwards, the construction of the Yongshi to Yazhuang section will be launched from 2028 to 2029, with the aim of completing the full line investment by 2035. According to the impact assessment of Vietnam's Ministry of Transport and General Statistics Bureau, the North South high-speed railway project can contribute about 1 percentage point to GDP growth annually from 2025 to 2037. In addition, there may be some improvement in steel consumption for the steel S460N steel industry.
