According to data from the Vietnam S235JR steel Steel Association, Vietnam's finished steel production reached 2.52 million tons in July, an increase of 2.5% month on month and 5.2% year-on-year. The cumulative production of finished steel in Vietnam from January to July 2024 reached 17 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.4%. In July, Vietnam's sales of finished steel products reached 2.46 million tons, a month on month increase of 4.2% and a year-on-year increase of 13.1%. The cumulative sales of finished steel in Vietnam S235JR steel from January to July 2024 reached 16.75 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.3%.
From the perspective of imports and exports, Vietnam's steel exports in July reached 681200 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3%. The cumulative export volume of finished steel from Vietnam from January to July 2024 reached 4.8 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.8%. In terms of imports, Vietnam's steel imports in July reached 1.18 million tons, a decrease of 7.6% compared to the previous month. The cumulative import volume of finished steel in Vietnam from January to July 2024 reached 9.4 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 42%. Currently, Vietnam mainly imports steel from China (about 68%), South Korea S235JR steel (7%), and others (25%).
