Zero Breakthrough! Zhongnan Shares Successfully Signed First LNG Low Temperature Reinforcement Export Order

Recently, Zhongnan Iron and Steel Zhongnan Co., Ltd. successfully signed a batch of LNG (liquefied natural gas) low-temperature steel bar orders for export to Algeria, achieving a breakthrough in zero low-temperature steel bar exports. At present, the product has completed production and testing, and is waiting for ship information to complete delivery.

Natural gas, as a clean energy source, plays an important role in optimizing energy consumption structure, DX51D+ZM steel controlling greenhouse gas emissions, and improving atmospheric environment. Low temperature steel bars, as the main structural material of LNG storage tanks, have high strength, good toughness, corrosion resistance, sufficient resistance to brittle cracking and crack arrest at -165 ℃ ultra-low temperature. The production of low-temperature steel bars is difficult, and low-temperature performance testing is also a challenge. It is necessary to test the low-temperature tensile performance of steel bars at -165 ℃. Zhongnan Group began researching low-temperature steel bars in 2015 and led the Guangdong Province Applied Science and Technology R&D Special Fund Project in 2016 to conduct key technology research and industrialization of ultra-low temperature environmentally friendly high-strength steel bars. After years of hard work, Zhongnan Group has become one of the three leading manufacturers of low-temperature steel bars in China. In March 2022, Zhongnan Testing Center obtained the CMA (Compulsory Certification of Chinese Testing Institutions and Laboratories) qualification certificate for LNG low-temperature steel bar low-temperature tensile testing capability, becoming one of the few laboratories in the country with this testing capability certification DX51D+ZM steel.

Low temperature steel bars for LNG storage tanks of Zhongnan Group have been widely used in LNG storage tank construction projects of domestic energy leading enterprises, achieving good results and creating two firsts: being applied to the world's largest LNG storage tank with a volume of 270000 cubic meters, achieving industrialization and promoting the application of low-temperature steel bars with a current maximum specification diameter of 28 millimeters. Zhongnan Group successfully signed the first export order for low-temperature steel bars for LNG storage tanks, indicating that the product has been recognized by foreign projects and has a positive effect on improving the international competitiveness of the product DX51D+ZM steel.
