It is reported that Türkiye Erdemir (Türkiye's largest flat steel DX57D+AS steel manufacturer) will open a new No. 2 blast furnace on October 29, 2023, and the operation of the new blast furnace will increase its molten iron capacity from 1.625 million metric tons to 1.775 million metric tons.
The company built a new No. 2 blast furnace and equipped it with the latest modern technology equipment before closing the old No. 2 blast furnace. The company stated that its goal is to improve efficiency by reducing costs and contribute to sustainable development.
Eregli Steel Plant in Erdemir produces DX57D+AS steel hot-rolled steel and cold-rolled galvanized steel coils, steel plates, and tinned steel plates, while Iskenderun Steel Plant produces steel billets, steel wires, and hot rolled steel coils DX57D+AS steel. The total crude steel production capacity of the two steel plants is 9.1 million metric tons per year.
