On October 24, 2023, American steel company Nucor held a third quarter financial report conference call, stating that the upcoming Lexington Mini Steel Plant (located in North Carolina) will effectively meet the growing demand for threaded steel in the United States.

It is understood that Lexington Steel Plant will start production in 2025, with a planned annual production JIS G3314 SA1C steel capacity of 430000 tons. The establishment of the new steel plant aims to meet the growing demand for threaded steel in the central and southeastern regions of the Atlantic. In addition, the modern equipment equipped by the steel plant will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Nucor first announced the construction plan for the SA1C steel coil plant in April 2022, with a total investment of $350 million, and held a groundbreaking ceremony in August.

In addition, in early October, Nucor expressed its willingness to build another rebar micro SA1C steel plant in the Pacific Northwest region and is currently awaiting approval from the board of directors. The estimated annual production capacity of the new steel plant is 650000 tons, producing a full range of threaded steel products and equipped with winding facilities. This will be Nucor's fourth threaded steel microsteel.
