According to the data of Türkiye Statistics Bureau (TUIK), from January to September 2023, the export of Türkiye's semi-finished materials declined significantly, while the import surged.
Türkiye's steel producers exported only 91000 tons of semi-finished steel products in the first nine months of this year, compared with 634000 tons in the same period last year. From January to September 2023, Türkiye's crude DX57D+ZM steel output will decline by 10% year on year to 24.5 million tons. Steel mills tend to meet their own semi finished product demand and are not willing to export.
From January to September 2023, the export DX57D+ZM steel value of semi-finished materials significantly decreased year-on-year, from $455 million last year to $55 million.
Although the export of semi-finished materials in Türkiye DX57D+ZM steel declined significantly, the total import of semi-finished materials in the same period reached 4.6 million tons, up 45% year on year, including 2.42 million tons imported from Russia.
