Assam Hussein, CEO of Arabian Gulf Steel Industries (AGSI), announced on January 12 that the company's new HRM 3 rolling mill in Abu Dhabi has successfully completed its cold and hot commissioning. B50A700 Non oriented electrical steel, As one of the UAE's major steel companies, AGSI utilizes a fully electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking process and produces zero-carbon steel using 100% locally recycled raw materials, making it one of the region's largest local scrap steel recyclers.
Hussein stated that the new rolling mill is in the final stages of commissioning and certification and will be integrated into AGSI's entire production system, from smelting to rolling. Commercial operation is expected to commence in late January. B50A700 Non oriented electrical steel, HRM 3's output will primarily supply the UAE's domestic rebar market, with some products also being exported to regional markets based on demand.
According to AGSI, HRM 3 can directly receive hot-charged materials from steel mills, with an annual rolling capacity of 600,000 tons of zero-carbon rebar, further expanding the company's production base. Hussein pointed out that the company's current operating HRM 1 and HRM 2 mills have a total capacity of approximately 640,000 tons/year, with HRM 1 having a capacity of 400,000 tons/year and HRM 2, as a light-to-medium profile mill, capable of producing 240,000 tons of rebar annually. B50A700 Non oriented electrical steel, He added that the company is upgrading HRM 1, and its capacity is expected to double to 800,000 tons/year upon completion in the second quarter of 2026. After HRM 3 goes into operation, AGSI's total rolling capacity will increase to approximately 1.24 million tons/year; and after the HRM 1 upgrade is completed, the total capacity will further increase to approximately 1.64 million tons/year.
AGSI's capacity expansion coincides with the continued rise in rebar demand in the UAE. UAE rebar demand is projected to steadily grow to 575,000-600,000 tons per month by 2026, while demand this month has already reached 525,000 tons.
