Abul Khair Steel (AKS) in Bangladesh A537 Class 2 steel has launched a new standard for threaded steel, B700C-R. This standard has established a new industry standard in Bangladesh, even surpassing the highest grade steel bars currently available in the Bangladeshi market. It is reported that AKSTMTB700C-R steel bars are manufactured using advanced rolling technology from the globally renowned German SMS Group, and have excellent performance, elasticity, and durability. This product is mainly used in the construction industry, aiming to provide stronger and safer buildings for the country.
Currently, AKS Bangladesh is an important producer of long timber in Bangladesh and South Asia. In 2009, a steel plant with an annual production capacity of 1.4 million tons was established in Bangladesh. In 2024, a new type of rebar rolling A537 Class 2 steel mill designed by SMS Group from Germany was added in Sitakunda, Chittagong, Bangladesh, with an annual production capacity of 1.6 million tons. It can produce high-quality rebar with a diameter of 8-40 millimeters. After being put into operation, AKS' total long material production capacity increased to 2.8 million tons per year, significantly enhancing its A537 Class 2 steel market competitiveness.
