Recently, the German metallurgical equipment manufacturer SMS Group announced that JSW Vijayanagar Metallics Ltd. (JVML)—a subsidiary of the Indian steel producer JSW Steel—has successfully commissioned a brand-new 350-ton Ruhrstahl Heraeus (RH) vacuum degassing unit at its plant in Vijayanagar, India. According to SMS Group, this configuration marks a significant advancement in secondary metallurgy technology; compared to conventional RH units, it enhances process efficiency, improves safety, and increases production output. Nikhil Agashe, Vice President at JSW Steel, commented on the project, stating that the new unit represents a major step-change improvement in both production capacity and steel grade flexibility.
