In the first half of the Persian calendar year 2025 (March 21 to September 22), consumption of both finished and semi-finished wood products in Iran declined. B18P075 oriented electrical steel, Industry analysts attribute this decline to a combination of complex domestic policy regulations and a challenging international political environment, which continue to suppress downstream demand.
According to data from the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA), Iran's consumption of finished steel products decreased by 6.6% year-on-year in the first half of the year, reaching 9.05 million tons. B18P075 oriented electrical steel, While consumption of long products increased by 10.5% to approximately 4.55 million tons, driven by increased demand for rebar, demand for flat products declined significantly by 18.6% to 4.36 million tons, indicating an overall weak market.
Consumption of semi-finished products also weakened, with total volume decreasing by 5.6% to 10.96 million tons. B18P075 oriented electrical steel, Of this, consumption of billets and blooms fell to 6.18 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 7%; and consumption of slabs decreased to 4.78 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.8%. Against the backdrop of weak domestic demand, local steel mills turned to export markets, resulting in a significant 40% year-on-year increase in exports during the first half of the year, reaching 3.88 million tons.
On the raw materials side, consumption of metallized products such as direct reduced iron increased slightly by 1.9% to 20.6 million tons; demand for iron ore pellets decreased by 5.1% to 25.24 million tons; and consumption of iron ore concentrate decreased slightly by 0.8% to 32.43 million tons. The data shows that although upstream production in Iran remained stable, the recovery of downstream end-user demand still faces significant challenges.
