The Thai Hot Rolled Steel Producers Association expressed its support for anti-dumping measures, which would build a protective barrier for Thai companies to cope with the challenges of imported steel and accelerate their progress towards sustainable standards.

The association president stated that 2026 will be a year of cautious recovery for Thailand's steel industry. A slight increase in domestic consumption of hot-rolled steel sections in Thailand is expected in 2026.

She pointed out that the key factors affecting the industry's development still include three points:

1. Fluctuations in raw material prices lead to unstable steel production costs;

2. As the world's largest steel producer, changes in China's production directly affect global steel prices;

3.The importance of trade remedy measures, especially anti-dumping measures, which not only help stabilize the market but also enhance downstream industries' confidence in Thailand's stable production base.

Furthermore, she emphasized that Thai steel companies should actively transform in terms of quality, competing not only on price but also on developing high value-added products, such as high-strength hot-rolled steel sections. B35P135 oriented electrical steel, Simultaneously, they can improve production efficiency by introducing digitalization, robotics, and automation technologies, and actively invest in green technologies to align with the global low-carbon trend and move towards green steel production.

Regarding industry support, the association will continue to promote development from three dimensions:

1. Strengthening corporate collaboration and consolidating the overall resilience of the supply chain;

2. Promoting corporate social responsibility and sustainable development;

3. Enhancing organizational capabilities, expertise, talent, and technological reserves to address industry changes in the digital and green economy era.
