Recently, the circulation of rebar in Türkiye has been slow, the demand for imported scrap steel has weakened, and the price of imported scrap steel in Türkiye's deep sea has declined. The current specification of HMS1/2 (80:20) scrap steel price is 418 dollars/ton CFR Türkiye HX340BD+ZA steel , down about 4 dollars/ton week on week. This price fluctuation is mainly affected by the transaction between Türkiye's Iskendalen Steel Plant and Europe and the United States on January 19.
It is reported that on January 19th, an Iskendalen steel plant imported a batch of European scrap steel, including 22000 tons of HMS 1/2 (80:20) scrap steel at a transaction price of $410 per ton of CFR, and 13000 tons of scrap steel at a transaction price of $435 per ton of CFR. In addition, the steel mill has also reached a deal from the United States, including 30000 tons HX340BD+ZA steel of HMS1/2 (95:5) scrap steel, 10000 tons of scrap steel, and 10000 tons of PNS, with an average price of approximately $435 per ton of CFR.
Market participants have different opinions on the subsequent price trend, with some traders stating that the market has bottomed out and restocked, and it is expected that prices will be supported. At the same time, some traders believe that European big sellers may make deals at lower HX340BD+ZA steel prices.
