Asia United Steel Begins Construction of 1.2-Million-Ton-Per-Year Steel Plant in Kazakhstan

Asia United Steel has officially launched construction of a steel plant in the Kazybek Bek industrial zone of Almaty Region, Kazakhstan, according to a press release published on the government website. The project will proceed in three phases and is expected to create approximately 600 jobs. The facility is scheduled to commence operations in 2027; once fully operational, it will possess an annual steel production capacity of 1.2 million tons, establishing itself as one of the largest steel enterprises in southern Kazakhstan. Its products will supply the local market as well as be exported to Central Asian nations.

The production base covers approximately 78 hectares and is located in an industrial park with adequate infrastructure, electricity, water resources, and rail transport facilities, with a daily rail throughput capacity of 100 wagons. In the coming years, the industrial park will further improve its infrastructure. In addition, the new ferroalloy plant Ekibastuz Ferro Alloys in Ekibastuz, Pavlodar Region, Kazakhstan, officially commenced production at the end of November.
