Asia United Steel Begins Construction of 1.2-Million-Ton-Per-Year Steel Plant in Kazakhstan

Asia United Steel has officially launched construction of a steel plant in the Kazybek Bek industrial zone of Almaty Region, Kazakhstan, according to a press release published on the government website. Local leaders emphasized the strategic significance of the project in enhancing regional industrialization and strengthening the national economy.

The project will proceed in three phases and is expected to create approximately 600 jobs. The facility is scheduled to commence operations in 2027; once fully operational, it will possess an annual steel production capacity of 1.2 million tons, establishing itself as one of the largest steel enterprises in southern Kazakhstan. Its products will supply the local market as well as be exported to Central Asian nations.

The production base covers approximately 78 hectares and is located in an industrial park with adequate infrastructure, electricity, water resources, and rail transport facilities, with a daily rail throughput capacity of 100 wagons. In the coming years, the industrial park will further improve its infrastructure. The project is fully funded by foreign investment, and its product line covers high-demand steel products such as construction steel and industrial steel.

Once operational at its designed capacity, the plant is expected to become one of the region's key steel exporters, further enhancing Kazakhstan's position in the Central Asian steel market.

In addition, the new ferroalloy plant Ekibastuz Ferro Alloys in Ekibastuz, Pavlodar Region, Kazakhstan, officially commenced production at the end of November.
