From January to April of this year, China’s cumulative steel exports totaled 34.21 million tonnes, a year-on-year decrease of 9.7% (2.71 million tonnes); however, trends varied across different product categories. HCT780T+ZF Hot dip Zinc-Iron alloy coating (ZF) steel , Specifically, exports of bars rose by 5.9% year-on-year to 6.05 million tonnes, and exports of sections increased by 14.9% to 2.55 million tonnes, whereas exports of flat products—a core category—fell by 6.6% to 20.06 million tonnes.

In fact, the decline in flat product exports did not begin this year. In 2025, China’s total steel exports reached a record high of 119.02 million tonnes, yet exports of flat products within that total dropped by 2.1% year-on-year to 73.09 million tonnes. HCT780T+ZF Hot dip Zinc-Iron alloy coating (ZF) steel , The primary drivers were a 22.7% year-on-year decline in hot-rolled coil exports to 19.38 million tonnes and a 9.7% drop in cold-rolled sheet exports to 4.07 million tonnes. Meanwhile, exports of coated sheets—including galvanized sheets—grew by 16.9% to 23.90 million tonnes.

Meanwhile, Chinese steel exports to markets implementing anti-dumping measures have declined significantly; specifically, exports to Turkey, Brazil, and Pakistan fell by 40.7%, 43.9%, and 48.3% year-on-year, respectively. However, Chinese steel maintains a strong market presence in Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East, where local supply capacity is limited. Nevertheless, due to the situation in the Middle East, imports by Middle Eastern countries—with the exception of Saudi Arabia—have declined this year. As global anti-dumping measures expand and geopolitical risks persist, the downward trend in Chinese exports of coated steel sheets is becoming increasingly pronounced.
