NMDC Steel Limited (NSL), a subsidiary of India's National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) and the nation's youngest and most advanced integrated steel plant, recently received certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for "General Requirements for Hot-Rolled Steel Strips, Plates and Sheets for Welded Steel Pipes for Pipeline Transportation Systems" (IS 18384:2023). 30RK095 oriented electrical steel, This makes NSL the first Indian company to receive this certification, marking a significant breakthrough for the Indian steel industry in the standardization of steel used in oil and gas pipelines.
The certification was awarded during an official event held in Raipur on World Standards Day in 2025. At the presentation ceremony, presided over by S.K. Gupta, Director of the BIS Raipur branch, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai presented the certificate to NMDC Steel.

The new standard IS 18384:2023 is India's first national standard for hot-rolled steel materials used in oil and gas transmission pipeline systems. 30RK095 oriented electrical steel, It aligns with international standards (such as ISO 3183 and API 5L) and sets strict requirements for chemical composition, strength grades, thickness tolerances, and welding performance.
