The investigation into the collapse of the Thai Audit LR/EH62 steel Office building caused by the earthquake shows that the cause of the collapse was due to defects in the building design and construction methods, and was not related to the quality of the steel. According to local media reports, the Thai Prime Minister revealed after a follow-up meeting with senior government officials and construction representatives on June 30th that the problem was not with the quality of the steel, but rather with improper use of steel that did not meet building standards.

By simulating the vibrations experienced by collapsed buildings LR/EH62 steel during earthquakes, the investigation team identified deficiencies in the design and construction methods of the building, particularly in the walls, elevator shafts, staircase walls, and shear walls. In terms of building materials, both steel and concrete meet the general standards, but the actual concrete used does not meet the standards. The Prime Minister stated that the complete investigation report will be completed within two weeks and handed over to the Special Investigation Agency (DSI) and the police for further processing.

In response, the Thai Ministry of LR/EH62 steel Industry stated that it will continue to investigate steel mills that produce inferior steel to ensure public safety in the construction industry.
