Japan's major steelmakers, Nippon Steel and JFE Steel, recently announced price hikes for their domestic flat steel products, citing factors such as rising raw material costs and increased operational and logistics expenses.
According to reports, Nippon Steel has announced that, effective this April, it will raise the price of thin-gauge rolled steel sheets supplied to domestic distributors and secondary processors by 10,000 yen (approximately $63) per ton.
