According to data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), U.S. steelmakers imported 1.34 million tons of finished steel in October 2025, representing a year-over-year increase of 12.9%.
Total steel imports for the month—including both finished and semi-finished products—reached 1.73 million tons, B50AR350 Non oriented electrical steel, an increase of 11% compared to the previous month.
In terms of product categories, the largest import volumes included: hot-dipped galvanized sheets and coils (142,030 tons, +5% month-over-month), oil country tubular goods (131,760 tons, +21.6%), wire rod (103,330 tons, +105.4%), B50AR350 Non oriented electrical steel, and hot-rolled sheets and coils (102,490 tons, +27.8%). Finished steel accounted for 77.2% of total imports for the month.
Based on cumulative data, from January to October 2025, U.S. imports of finished steel products totaled 16.42 million tons, B50AR350 Non oriented electrical steel, a decrease of 14% compared to the same period in 2024; total steel imports amounted to 22.02 million tons, down 10.7% year-on-year.
