ASK:

What’s the S420M Grade D steel ?

ANSWER: S420M Grade D is the material in International standard ISO 630-3. ISO 630-3 specifies requirements for flat and long products of hot rolled weldable fine grain structural steels in the thermomechanical-rolled delivery conditions. ISO 630-3 applies to steel plates rolled on a reversing mill, wide flats, hot rolled sections and bars, which are intended for use in heavily loaded parts of welded or bolted structures.

The delivery condition of S420M Grade D steel is thermomechanical rolled

S420M Grade D steel flat and long products apply to thickness not more than 3mm-150mm

The “S” in S420M Grade D means “Structural” “M” means “thermomechanical” So, S420M Grade D is an fine grain Structural weldable thermomechanical rolled quality steel grade

S420M Grade D steel apply for the sheet, plate, strip, wide flats and flats, sections, Bars and rods products.

S420M Grade D steel plates can be produced into heavily loaded parts of welded structures such as bridges, flood gates, storage tanks, water supply tanks. And so on.

S420M Grade D impact test temperature is -20°C

Max CEV in % for nominal produce of S420M Grade D is : 0.43

Yield strength of S420M Grade D steel is min 365MPa

Tensile strength of S420M Grade D steel is 460-680MPa

Elongation of S420M Grade D steel not more than 19%.
