Al Yamamah Steel signs contract for Al Ghat wind farm project to support Saudi Arabia’s clean energy transition

Saudi steel companies are BV/F550 steel accelerating their participation in the national energy transition project. Al Yamamah Steel Industries recently announced that it has signed a new contract to provide steel wind turbine towers for the Al Ghat wind farm project in Saudi Arabia, further expanding its business presence in the renewable energy sector.

The contract was signed by SEPCOIII Saudi Branch of China Electric Power Construction Group Nuclear Power Engineering Company, and the agreement was officially reached on July 15, 2025. The contract amount is 35.7 million Saudi riyals (approximately 9.5 million US dollars, calculated at an exchange rate of 1 US dollar=3.75 riyals). According to the announcement released by the Saudi Stock Exchange, the project will be delivered and executed within six months, with supply expected to begin in August 2025.

This order once again highlights Al Yamamah Steel's strategic position in Saudi Arabia's energy structure adjustment and infrastructure construction. Its product coverage is expanding from traditional power towers, transmission poles, and building steel to the rapidly growing fields of wind and solar equipment manufacturing.

The Al Ghat wind farm is one of the important landmark projects under the Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Renewable Energy BV/F550 steel Program (NREP). The planned total installed capacity of the wind farm is 600 megawatts, jointly developed, constructed, operated, and maintained by Marubeni Corporation of Japan and Abdulaziz Al Ajaran Real Estate Investment Company of Saudi Arabia. After completion, the project will become one of the largest onshore wind farms in Saudi Arabia.

At present, Al Yamamah BV/F550 steel Steel has four major production bases in Saudi Arabia, with products covering multiple categories such as welded steel pipes, space structures, power towers, transmission poles, and threaded steel. Through this bid, the company has made further progress in supporting Saudi Arabia's clean energy goals and laid the foundation for future expansion in the Middle East new energy equipment manufacturing market.
