Russia’s EVRAZ cuts slab exports, billet shipments slightly increase

According to reports, Russian BV/F690 steel company EVRAZ reduced its external supply of semi-finished steel products in June 2025. Although there has been a slight increase in the export of square billets, there has been a significant decrease in the export volume of slab.

Data shows that EVRAZ shipped nearly 158000 tons of billets in June, an increase of 5% compared to the previous month. Among them, the shipment volume of EVRAZ NTMK factory reached 61000 tons, a month on month increase of 17%. The export volume of the factory increased significantly by 50% month BV/F690 steel on month to 31000 tons, but the domestic sales slightly decreased to 30000 tons. At the same time, EVRAZ ZSMK maintained stable shipments, with an export volume of 97000 tons of billets in June, all of which were used for the export market.

In contrast, slab exports showed a significant decline in June. EVRAZ exported a total of 108000 tons of slab in the month, a decrease of 14% compared to the previous month, all supplied by the NTMK factory, which remained basically unchanged from the level in May. However, it is worth noting that the factory has continuously shifted its export direction from Taiwan, China to the EU market in the past few months. In June, EU customers absorbed about 100000 tons of slab, an increase of 2% compared to the previous month.

Overall, from January to May 2025, BV/F690 steel EVRAZ exported approximately 851000 tons of billets, a year-on-year decrease of 7%; The export of slab reached 770000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 7%.
