In May 2025, the shipment BV/F420 steel volume of cold-rolled sheet and steel strip in Japan was 413322 tons, an increase of 17.6% month on month and 5.8% year-on-year. Among them, the domestic market accounted for 50.4% of shipments, while the export market accounted for 49.6%. The high proportion of exports indicates that BV/F420 steel external demand still has a certain degree of resilience.
In terms of inventory, as of the end of May, the inventory of cold-rolled sheet and strip in Japan was 660459 tons, a decrease of 0.4% month on month and 1.4% year-on-year. Among them, steel mills hold 73.3% of inventory, while steel traders hold 26.7% of inventory.
In terms of production, Japan's BV/F420 steel cold-rolled sheet and strip production in May was 409063 tons, an increase of 3.1% month on month and 7.1% year-on-year. Driven by the recovery of exports and improved market expectations, overall production maintained a slight upward trend.
