According to data from the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) of Brazil's Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Brazil's steel billet exports totaled 390,500 tonnes in May, down from 687,500 tonnes in April. HCT980X+ZM Hot dip Zinc-magnesium alloy coating (ZM) steel , Ternium exported 236,300 tonnes to the United States, while ArcelorMittal Tubarão exported 93,800 tonnes to the U.S. and 60,400 tonnes to France (all on an FOB basis). The 43% decline was primarily driven by strong domestic market demand—specifically from Usiminas and CSN—as well as ArcelorMittal's need to supply its own rolling operations, resulting in lower export availability.

Reportedly, robust domestic demand has been driven by locally produced cold-rolled coils and coated heavy plates, which have replaced imports from China following the imposition of anti-dumping duties on Chinese products in February.
