Petronas, the Malaysian BV/E420 steel national oil and gas company, and TNB, a local power company, are working together to build a green hydrogen energy center in Lake Keni, Terengganu state, to promote the production of hydrogen and its derivatives. It is reported that the project, named "Hybrid Hydro Floating Solar Power BV/E420 steel System (HHFS) and Green Hydrogen Energy Center", has been officially launched in Terengganu state recently. The two parties claim that this will help Malaysia become a "regional leader" in the green hydrogen energy value chain.
According to the joint statement, the project BV/E420 steel is an important component of the 2.5 billion watt hybrid solar hydro power plan. However, details regarding the specific production capacity, development schedule, and potential end users of green hydrogen energy have not yet been disclosed.
