Philippine steel manufacturer SteelAsia Manufacturing Company announced on October 26 that it has suspended operations at its flagship plant, the Calaca scrap steel recycling and processing plant in Batangas province, B20R065 GO Electrical steel.

The company did not specify the exact start date of the production suspension or the resumption plan in its statement.

According to SteelAsia's official website, the Calaca plant is currently the only integrated steel production base in the Philippines with a complete process flow, operating a rebar rolling production line with an annual capacity of 500,000 tons. B20R065 GO Electrical steel, The plant melts recycled scrap steel, casts it into semi-finished steel billets, and then processes them further in the rolling mill.
