Indonesia’s Krakatau Steel Industry exported over 54,000 tons of cold-rolled coils to Spain

On September 25, 2025, Krakatau Baja Industri (KBI) of Indonesia held a ceremony in Cilegon, Banten Province, to officially launch the export of a batch of cold-rolled coil (CRC) products to Spain. Setia Diarta, Director General of the Department of Metals, Machinery, Transport Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE) under the Ministry of Industry, attended the shipping ceremony. In his speech, he pointed out that KBI has made significant contributions to the positive development of Indonesia's base metals industry. X80Q steel, Since 2025, the company has cumulatively exported approximately 62,000 tons of cold-rolled coil products to countries such as the United States, Poland, and Spain.

Director Setia further stated that this export achievement demonstrates the resilience of Indonesia's manufacturing sector, particularly the steel industry, in its expansion into international markets. He also emphasized that this export of cold-rolled coils demonstrates the strong synergy between KBI and its upstream raw material supplier, Krakatau Steel, indicating that Indonesia's domestic steel supply chain is capable of responding to global demand.

According to the World Steel Association, Indonesia's crude steel production reached 17 million tons in 2024, ranking 14th globally, an increase of approximately 98.5% compared to 8.5 million tons in 2019. Currently, Indonesia's national crude steel production capacity has reached 21 million tons, with plans to further increase it to 27 million tons by 2029. This expansion plan reflects Indonesia's proactive measures to enhance its competitiveness in the global steel market.

Furthermore, Setia reiterated that sustainable development and innovation are crucial for Indonesia's steel industry. He stated that the industry plays a key role in enhancing the resilience of the national economy by increasing added value and building an integrated upstream and downstream ecosystem.

At the ceremony, KBI President Arief Purnomo stated that this export success was a result of the company's continuous investment in product and service quality. He pointed out that the export market will become an important part of KBI's future sales strategy, and the company is currently actively collaborating with partners to expand the global market for cold-rolled coil products. X80Q steel, Purnomo noted that this export was the result of collaboration between KBI, raw material supplier Krakatau Posco, and Posco International, which is committed to strengthening international distribution.
